Our story

No one should have to carry their health story alone.

Chrysalis is a patient advocacy and care management app for people living with chronic and invisible illness. It started with one patient who was tired of retelling his story, and a decade of listening to people doing the same.

Where it started

Brent has lived with chronic illness for more than twenty years.

“I know what it feels like to be fogged, exhausted, dismissed, and still expected to explain years of complexity in a short appointment.”

For more than two decades, Brent carried his own history from practitioner to practitioner: symptoms, labs, timelines, what helped, what made things worse, and the parts that never fit an intake form. He built Metabolic Me in 2009, and in 2013 co-founded Lyme Less Live More to support Lyme and invisible-illness patients in the long stretches between doctor visits.

He heard the same thing for years. People wanted to be heard, they were tired of retelling their story, and they were too depleted to use tools that added more work.

How it became a company

Brittany has spent a decade in expert-led education.

She was President and COO of a global digital education company that grew from $1M to $12M in annual recurring revenue. Her graduate research is on consent, ownership and agency in digital systems.

Together they started Chrysalis around a simple belief: the person who lives the story should hold it, decide who sees it, and never have to rebuild it from scratch.

Why Chrysalis

From the outside, it looks like nothing is happening inside a chrysalis.

It's where the real change takes place, out of sight. That's what living with an invisible illness is like: the work is constant, and almost none of it shows. We named the company for that stage, and for what comes after it.

How we got here

  1. Metabolic Me

Brent's first personalized health education platform for practitioners and patients.

  2. Lyme Less Live More

A decade of educating and supporting Lyme and invisible-illness patients between doctor visits.

  3. Chrysalis is founded

A private, portable place for a person's own story, built to work with any AI.

  4. Four patent applications filed for ethical AI infrastructure

From recursive identity memory to consent-based memory portability and personalized AI, our foundational technologies are designed to safeguard private information and proprietary knowledge while keeping users in control of what they share with AI.

  5. Proven where the bar is highest

To fund the build, we brought our platform inside two Fortune 500 companies. It meant building to their standard for privacy and security from the start.

  6. Back to where it began

When HHS opened a national sprint on AI and invisible illness, during Lyme Awareness Month, we came home to health. We were TOPx Phase 1 winners of the AI + Invisible Illness track and one of 15 teams selected for the 12-week tech sprint building with HHS.

  7. Public launch

A free, invitation-only beta first, then Chrysalis opens one cohort at a time.

How we build

With patients, not just for them

Every feature traces back to something a patient, caregiver or practitioner told us.

Your story stays yours

You decide who sees it and for how long, and you can take it back.

Humans make the calls

People and their care teams make the decisions. Chrysalis helps them see the whole picture.

Every approach is welcome

Conventional, functional, dietary or behavioral. We track what helps, without ranking how people get there.

The people behind it

Questions people ask about Chrysalis

Is Chrysalis a medical provider?

No. Chrysalis helps you and your care team see the whole picture, so the decisions stay with you and the people you trust.

How is it different from a patient portal?

A portal belongs to one health system and shows what that system recorded. Chrysalis belongs to you. It holds what you track between visits and goes with you to every practitioner you see.

How is it different from asking an AI chatbot?

A chatbot keeps your history inside its own account. Chrysalis keeps it in a record you own, organized around your case, and you decide which tools and which people can read it.

Who owns my information?

You do. You choose who sees it and for how long, and you can take access back at any time.

When can I use it?

We're opening a free, invitation-only beta first, then launching publicly in early 2027. Join the waitlist to get an invitation.
